Ideas into reality – Be part of the story!

The Trust is all about helping people to turn their ideas into reality, making a positive change when it comes to improving the place where they live, which in this case is Beechwood and Craylands.  Whilst the building work continues and the surroundings change for the better, there is a massive opportunity on your doorstep to be part of the story, which will see better facilities, more community spirit and increased opportunities for people living locally.

The Trust has recently adopted a new identity and has the strapline “Support, enable, grow” which really sets out what we want to do, but we can’t do it alone. It’s only with your help that we can provide the guidance and support that people might need to put ideas into action. The Trust can help you to develop your ideas, help with funding and get access to all kinds of support, which will help you to turn your ideas into reality. Why not be part of the story?

For more information please contact Ben Russell, Community Development Officer by e-mail: or by telephone: 07719 959770.  We welcome the opportunity to listen to your ideas – no matter how big or small!

Getting our gloves on…

One of the ideas that the Trust has recently funded is a sports-based project, which has been run by an organisation called SportInspired. The group worked with local schools to deliver a sports festival in October 2018, which encouraged children and young people to get into sports, get fit and active and to transform their lives. We had a massive 176 children and 34 youth leaders who took part in the day.

As part of the funding, SportInspired also delivered a sport coaching programme for the Beechwood residents, which enabled 8 residents to gain accredited coaching qualifications for Boxing, Football and Futsal.

Residents who received the training, have already established a Boxing Club, which is delivering free boxercise sessions every Thursday evening from The Beech Hub. Why not pop along and get your gloves on?

Christmas Party Celebrations

On Wednesday 19th December 2018, The Trust hosted the first Beechwood and Craylands Christmas Party at The Beech Hub.

The event was kindly sponsored by Mr Kam, the owner of the Loco Shop and supported with funding from a “Nisa Making Difference” grant. 24 adults and 46 children came along to the party and enjoyed some lovely food and party games, and everyone received a surprise gift, to the great delight of all who came.

When asked whether people had enjoyed themselves, people said that that they had had a great time and that it was good to meet and get to know other residents. We would like to extend our thanks to Mr Kam for his kind donation and those who came to the event and provided us with positive feedback
